Starting from a registered capital of
500,000 and five staff in 1962, Mr. Chavarat
Charnvirakul founded Sino-Thai Engineering
Limited Partnership to fabricate steel
structures for the growing Thai construction
industry. It was in 1967 that the Sino-Thai
Engineering and Construction Company Limited
(STECON) was registered to facilitate
the enormous growth Sino-Thai was experiencing.
By the 1970’s, STECON was expanding very
rapidly as well as gaining recognition
from the industry and customers as a contractor
with punctuality and high technical standards.
STECON’s business was then diversified
to include construction contracting, sales,
maintenance and repair of industrial machinery,
and property development. The rapid growth
continued until the late 1980’s and well
into the early 1990’s despite the world-wide
recession of that period. The continuing
record of growth finally made STECON the
first construction company to be listed
on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 1992 with registered capital of 300 million Baht.
Today, STECON Group, with over ten affiliates,
is among the top construction companies
in the country and is active at the regional
level. STECON’s comprehensive track record
on large infrastructure and industrial
projects, with satisfied local and international
clients, demonstrates its ability to continue
to grow as well as demonstrating why we
have sustained our leading position for
over four decades.
